Steel Angel Kurumi

Somewhere in 1920's Japan,
Nagato is coersed by his friends to investigate an abandoned building where
it was rumored that a mad doctor was doing unspeakable things. While searching
around the basement for an exit after being shoved in through a window,
Nagato finds a lifesize doll. As he moves in for a closer look, the ground
shakes and the doll falls forward into Nagato, lips first. This accidental
kiss causes the doll to awaken. The doll, Kurumi, looks at Nagato with
adoring eyes and assigns him her master. Before much can be said, the two
are interupted first by Dr. Kouchi who was wondering how Kurumi was activated,
then by Dr. Amagi, using a huge combat robot, trying to capture Dr. Kouchi.
The robot accidentally grabs Nagato and Kurumi trashes it. From Dr. Kouchi
Nagato learns that Kurumi is a Steel Angel. An advanced combat capable
robot made to look like a beautiful woman. Kouchi disagreed with his former
employers and escaped with a special model, Kurumi, whom Nagato's kiss
activated and now obeys only him. The Army is trying to capture Kurumi
and Kouchi and now Nagato is a target too.

Review
An excellent fantasy/humour
twist on the Sleeping Beauty theme. The first series of the android gal
genre that I saw and my favorite, with Sabor Marionette a close 2nd. Easy
going, action, adventure and a bit risqué
